I am honored and excited to serve as the principal of Southeast Whitfield High School! Southeast has always been a special place to me, as I began my journey here as a science teacher. I later had the opportunity to grow as a leader, serving as an assistant principal at New Hope Middle School and Westside Middle School before making my way back home to Southeast. Now, having the opportunity to serve as principal of the school where my career began is incredibly meaningful. I am excited about what lies ahead and look forward to working alongside our students, staff, families, and community to continue making Southeast a place where everyone can learn, grow, and be proud to be a Raider!

Hello! My name is Jessica Westmoreland, and I am honored to serve as the Assistant Principal of Curriculum. This is my 16th year in education. Throughout my career, I have served as a mathematics teacher, Valley Point Middle School Instructional Coach, and most recently as a District Instructional Coach supporting middle and high schools.

I am excited to become part of one school community where I can build meaningful relationships and support the success of our students, teachers, and families. My husband, Joey, and I have two wonderful children, Joleigh and Griggs. Outside of school, I enjoy reading, going for walks, and spending time with family and friends. I am grateful for the opportunity to be part of this community and look forward to a great year together! Go Raiders!

Welcome to the 2026–2027 school year! I am honored to begin my 25th year as an educator in Whitfield County Schools and my third year serving as Assistant Principal and Athletic Director at Southeast Whitfield High School. As a proud member of the SHS Class of 1997, giving back to my alma mater is a responsibility I carry with immense pride and devotion.
Over the course of my career in Whitfield County, I have taught multiple grade levels and served on the administrative teams of two local middle schools before returning home to Southeast. My higher education journey began at Dalton State College, followed by a Bachelor’s degree from Covenant College, a Master of Arts in Teaching from Piedmont University, and a Specialist Degree in Educational Leadership from Augusta University in 2022.
My wife, Katy, and I live locally and are proud parents of two daughters: Aidan, a recent graduate of Georgia Southern University, and Maddy, who is beginning her freshman year at the University of Georgia.
 I am excited to collaborate with our dedicated staff as we support our students academically and athletically this year.

This will be my first year as a Raider after teaching science and coaching girls soccer at Coahulla Creek for the last two years. Prior to that, I spent four years in Dalton Public Schools teaching science and coaching boys soccer at The Dalton Academy. Becoming an administrator has been a goal of mine since I entered education, leading me to earn a Master’s in Instruction and a Specialist degree in Teacher Leadership. This year, I will oversee attendance, facilities, safety, and ACCESS testing. I am thrilled to join such a dynamic team of teachers and leaders as we gear up for a great year at Southeast!
