What is a School-Parent Compact?

Updated May 16, 2025 — A School-Parent Compact for Achievement is an agreement that parents, students, and teachers develop together. It explains how parents and teachers will work together to make sure all our students reach grade-level standards. Effective compacts:

Effective compacts:

Link to the goals of the school improvement plan
Focus on student learning skills
Describe how teachers will help students develop those skills using high-quality instruction
Share strategies parents can use at home
Explain how teachers and parents will communicate about student progress
Describe opportunities for parents to volunteer, o

The parents, students, and staff of Southeast High School developed this School-Parent Compact for Achievement. Teachers suggested home learning strategies, parents added ideas to make them more specific, and students told us what would help them learn. Meetings are held annually to review the Compact and make changes based on student needs.

Parents are welcome to contribute comments at any time.

Goal 1: Increase the WCS graduation rate from 91.13% to 93.13% over the next three years for all students.
Goal 2: Reduce the achievement gap(s) in English Language Arts & Mathematics.
Goal 3: To increase the capacity of all WCS teachers and leaders to enhance student learning through evidence-based professional learning.

9th Grade

Teacher/School Responsibilities

1. Align instruction to the Georgia Standards of Excellence for CONTENT and for LITERACY.

2. Provide students the opportunity each day to speak, write, read and listen (SWRL) using academic language.

3. Communicate with parents often (in their native language) and offer suggestions for how to help students succeed (online resources, how to study more effectively, making up missing assignments, etc…)

4. Keep grades updated in Infinite Campus and communicate important information with parents and students via Infinite Campus, Remind, and Google Classroom.

5. Ensure the transition from middle school to high school is successful by offering additional academic, social and emotional support to 9th grade students as needed to keep them on track for graduation.

Family Responsibilities at Home

Family Responsibilities

1. Help your child study. If you can’t help your child with homework, find someone who can. Reach out to the teacher for suggestions.

2. Ask your child every night if he or she has homework and find ways to reinforce good study habits. Make sure your child gets enough sleep each night by removing distractions.

3. Sign up for the class Remind of your child’s teachers so that you are aware of important information such as upcoming assignments and tests.

4. Check the Infinite Campus Parent Portal often, so you know how your child is doing in each class. Reach out to the teacher if your child is not making adequate progress.

5. Respond to teacher communication and attend parent-teacher conferences as needed to keep your child on track to graduate in four years.

Student Responsibilities

1. Pay attention in class and ask for help when you do not understand the information. Monitor your learning and self-check for comprehension.

2. Complete homework assignments each night and ask for help when you do not understand the material. Ask your teacher for resources you can use to better understand what you are learning in class.

3. Sign up for each teacher’s Google Classroom and Remind accounts and share them with your parents/guardians so they know what is happening in each of your classes.

4. Keep up with your grades in Infinite Campus. Ask your teacher for missing work or how to improve your grade if it is low.

5. Keep up with your classes so that you stay on track to graduate in four years.

10th Grade
